Health Care

Health Care – Medical Aid South Africa

From the perspective of an individual or Company which may already have a medical aid package in place, why not  incorporate the Day1Health package, together with a low cost medical aid and GAP cover? From a practical point of view you will have the free, unlimited Doctor’s and Dentist’s visits (and other benefits of Day1Health), but also a medical aid which wil pick up the costs of elective surgery.

Health Care

GAP cover provides hospitalization costs up to 300% of medical aid tariff, something your current package probably doesn’t do anyway. This way a member will also benefit from the cash payout of the Day1Health scheme even if the medical aid covered all the hospitalization costs, which is perfectly legit and we have found this arrangement will generally result in a saving of one third to fifty percent of the costs of your current medical aid.

• More and more working people cannot afford medical aid
 • The workforce is an employers greatest asset
 • Their health is a priority
 • The majority of working people in South Africa have no private health cover
 • Working people want access to private healthcare
 • Giving employees at least access to healthcare is an employers fundamental social responsibility.

Fiber Optics and Fibre optic Cable

Fiber Optics and Fibre optic Cable

Fiber optics or rather optical fibres are long, thin strands of glass about the diameter of a human hair. These are very pure glass strandswhich are arranged in optical cables or bundles. Fibre optics are used to transmit light signals over long distances at high speed.

CABLE SPLICING & FIBRE OPTIC CABLE  -  FIBRE OPTICS

The following parts can be identified when you take a closer look at a optical fibre strand.:

The Core is in the centre of the optical fibre you will find the core , which is the thin glass where the light travels. The cladding surrounds the core , the optical material which reflects the light back into the core . The buffer coating comes on the outside you will find a plastic coating that protects the fiber from damage and moisture.

When hundreds or thousands of these optical fibers are arranged in bundles in optical cables, it forms an optical cable or fibre optics cable.

Optical fibre cables normally come in Single-mode fibers or Multi-mode fibers.

Single-mode fibers have small cores (about 3.5 x 10-4 inches or 9 microns in diameter) which transmit infrared laser light (wavelength = 1,300 to 1,550 nanometers). Multi-mode fibers have larger cores (about 2.5 x 10-3 inches or 62.5 microns in diameter) they transmit infrared light (wavelength = 850 to 1,300 nm) from light-emitting diodes (LEDs).

Optical fibers can be made from plastic with a large core (0.04 inches or 1 mm diameter) and they transmit visible red light (wavelength = 650 nm) from LEDs.

The light in a fiber-optic cable travels through the core (hallway) by constantly bouncing from the cladding , a principle called total internal reflection. Because the cladding does not absorb any light from the core, the light wave can travel great distances.

When you shine a flashlight beam down a long channel. You point the beam straight down the channel.light travels in straight lines which cause no problem when the channel is straight. When the channel is bent, the problem could be overcome by placing a mirror at the bend to reflect the light beam around the corner. This is what happens in an optical fiber cable.

Some of the light signal degrades and dissapears within the fiber due to impurities in the glass and other obsticles. The problem is more or less greater than 50 percent per km. However , high quality optical fibers show much less signal degradation , even as little as 10%.

Fibre optics is much faster than wireless in the order of gigabits per second.  Fibre optics is excellent for multimedia where you are delivering videos on demand or doing videoconferencing or Voice over IP (VoIP) phone calls like Skype which consume megabits per second.  Fibre optics is being compared in importance with microwave and satellite transmissions in the advanced world of communications.  Fibre optics is the backbone of the telecommunications industry, the technology behind the internet revolution.

Fibre optics is still quite expensive as compared to the copper wire, though the prices are coming down rapidly.  Fibre optics is the technique that uses optical fibres transparent rods of glass or plastic that are stretched to be long, thin and flexible to transmit data in the form of pulses of light.  Fibre optics is an ideal data transmission media and ensures safe transmissions over long distances in environments with a high level of electrical interference.

Bizfibre in South Africa is a leading Fibre Optics company whith the expertise to advise and install any size project.

Tree service in Pretoria and Johannesburg South Africa

See the Uban Tree Services below:

Crown Reduction:
The ends of all branches are reduced, in length, back to suitable ‘growth points’ (side branches). As a result the entire tree crown is reduced, in size and volume, whilst retaining the natural shape of the species. This procedure is usually stipulated in terms of a percentage rarely more than 25%.
Crown Thinning Tree Service:
Branches are removed from within the tree crown in order to make it uniformly less dense. The natural shape of the tree is completely unaffected but the wind resistance is reduced and more light allowed to filter through. This procedure is usually stipulated in terms of a percentage, rarely more than 30%. This is a very effective way prohibiting a tree from falling ,especially in unpredictable weather conditions

Crown Lifting Tree Service:
Increasing the gap between ground level and the crown. This is normally achieved by removing the lowest branches of the crown, to a specified height.
Felling Tree Service:
Causing a tree to fall under control by carefully making a series of cuts at the base of the trunk.
Sectional Felling Tree Service:
Carefully dismantling a tree in small sections. This operation is usually undertaken by making use of pulley and rope techniques as well as the structure of the tree itself for skilled branch removal.
Dead Wooding Tree Service:
The removal of dead or dying branches usually for safety and aesthetics. Larger dead branches can be safely retained (in order to provide habitat for birds and insects) by reducing their length and weight.
Hedge Cutting Tree Service:
Hedges of any size can be topped and trimmed to your specific dimensions.
Formative Pruning Tree Service:
The formation of a healthy stem and branch framework in very young trees. Achieved by carefully selecting and removing diseased wood, congested and rubbing branches and weak branch unions. Correct formative pruning can dramatically reduce the chances of disease, structural weakness and branch failure as the tree matures.

Stump Removal Tree Service:
Either by ‘grubbing out’ by hand (if the stump is small enough), employing a stump grinding machine (if the stump is large) or poisoning the stump and allowing it to slowly decay over time. All pruning cuts comply to modern arboricultural principles which limit, as much as possible, the impact of tree surgery on tree health
Veteran Tree Management Tree Service:
Veteran trees are ancient specimens in the final stage of their life. Because of their old age they provide us with significant biological, aesthetic and cultural interest. The vitality of veteran trees is normally slowing and they are frequently in a dangerous condition. As a result the temptation is often to remove them.

With careful planning and ongoing management UTC can help you safely preserve your old trees in an attractive state. One of the most recent developments in veteran tree management as a tree service is the use of Natural Fracture Techniques (NFT).

A NFT is a pruning cut that mimic the jagged edges character esthetically seen on broken branches following storm damage. When looking more natural than conventional pruning cuts they provide wonderful habitat for a myriad of fungi, insects and birds whilst removing any structural weakness.

Medical Furniture & Medical Equipment

Filed under: Business, Health, Uncategorized — Ben @ 10:34 am

Medfurn Medical Furniture Accessories for hospital beds are needed to provide professional and needed hospital care to patients.

Safety sides on hospital beds are commonly used in hospitals as well as old age care centers. The safety sides for beds can be supplied in different options such as:

Telescopic drop down safety sides with a chromed finish. These sides uses aluminum slides to guide and support the safety sides. The aluminum slides are attached directly to the bed by means of a bolt or they are attached to a G clamp that are attached to the bed in such a manner that they can be detached from the bed easy. Because of the telescopic function the safety sides could be mounted to the bed in different length options with a easy shortening or lengthening of the sides by pushing or pulling. To have safety sides in the down position a spring loaded knob on the slides can be pulled that would release the lock of the sides so that they can be lowered, by pulling the safety sides up it will be set in the upper position.

The second option is a fixed length safety side with a drop down function and a chromed finish the same as the telescopic safety sides. These sides are of a fixed length that could not be adjusted.

Swing down safety sides are usually used on patient trolleys or child and infant cot beds. These sides do swing down from the top.

Fold down safety sides can be attached to the bed in a permanent way from the factory or they can be purchase separately and be attached to a hospital bed. To lower these safety sides to the lower position a safety spring loaded pin are attached, by pulling this pin the safety sides can be lowered in a fold down function to fold out of the way. The finish on these sides can be epoxy coated or chromed.

Bed elevator folding is used on old types of beds. The function of a bed elevator is to lift the bed at different heights either at the head end or the feet end of the bed. The bed elevator folds into a flat form and has plastic covered hooks for the different heights.

Bed blocks are square blocks with sinked upper and lower ends forming different heights to provide height options. The bed blocks are made from sheet metal with a epoxy powder coated finish. By putting the blocks under the feet of the bed the bed is lifted to a higher level.

Bed trays are being used for eating in bed. The tray has fold away legs for easy storage that stands over your legs while sitting in bed eating. A tray is mounted as the top to provide a functional place for the cutlery.

Leg cradles are available in the following three sizes: large used as a body cradle dimensions 800 x 660 x 400, medium used as a leg cradle for adults with dimensions of 600 x 660 x 330 and the small cradle used for children as a leg cradle with the dimensions of 535 x 600 x 330. The cradles are made from 8mm solid round bar with a powder coated finish.

The folding backrest are used in beds that do not have the function of a lifting backrest. This lightweight adjustable backrest are made from round tubing and welded mesh. The backrest has a epoxy powder coated finish.

Chart board with clip comes as a lightweight or metal construction and with a choice of a hook to hang on a bed.

Chart board and x ray holder has two open compartments and hooks to hang on a bed. The hooks are covered with a plastic protection to prevent scratching and noise. Mostly the chart board and x ray holder are found in hospitals hanging on the feet end of the bed with the x rays and file of the patient.

Chart board holder for 20 chart boards are made from mild steel sheeting with a epoxy powder coated finish and sloped top The holder has a sloped top and so formed that each file can hang in its own compartment for easy handling. Available is a mobile stand for the chart board holder for easy moving of the holder.
