Water Saving On Autoclaves

Why is so much water being wasted in Hospital Autoclaves? Sterilizers, also known as autoclaves, use saturated steam to kill bacteria, microbes and spores, thereby creating condensate that can exceed 140 OC. Because the hot effluent can melt pipes, it must be tempered with cold water before it goes down the drain system.

“The problem is that most sterilizers have been designed to have water pouring through them constantly, 24/7, to be available to cool the condensate whether the sterilizer is being used or not”
Medi-Clave Autoclaves have a simple cool on demand approach and cooling water is only used during the critical stages where additional cooling is absolutely a necessity, and to further benefit our autoclaves only run the water thirsty vacuum-pump at the desired stages of actually drawing a vacuum in the chamber and not during the complete sterilization cycle as do most other conventional hospital autoclaves.

Medi-Clave Autoclaves have thus a revolutionary efficient built in water saving mechanism using up to 70% less water than other conventional hospital autoclaves in South Africa.
