The word ‘Knysna’ is thought to have come from an ancient Outeniqua word meaning ‘place of water’ or ‘place of ferns’ – so we chose to name our B&B in honour of those iconic plants of the Knysna forests: Blue Fern of Knysna

Stay with us in the suburb of Costa Sarda, in Knysna, when you visit and explore the Garden Route – one of South Africa’s favourite holiday destinations.

Here on the Southern Cape Coast (another name for the Garden Route), the 155,000 hectare, unfenced Garden Route National Park offers a lush mix of mountains, forests, fynbos, wetlands, and beaches – and you can image what that means for birding, cycling, and walking in the area! – while the towns and villages that exist side-by-side with the park offer magnificent golf courses, great dining, and some really unique shopping experiences (farmers markets, art galleries, and more).

The Garden Route is situated conveniently mid-way between Cape Town (500 km from Knysna) and Port Elizabeth (280 km) – so it’s an important feature on any coastal road trip. And it’s a perfect place for a holiday, too, of course.
